The Mills

Not just milling around…

Cynthia arrived home today, from a very successful week-long geneology trip with her mom and sister Jenny.  We’ve missed her!  (So take the events of the last week, throw-ups, midnight fevers, and all, and run them through that filter!  Needless to say, we’re all glad to have her back.)

Kyle ran a fever all last night, around 103 degrees. Here he is at around midnight, his fever finally broken (temporarily, anyway) by the bath.

This is my shower.

DSC01216

This has been my problem for the past year. Yes, the shower is on full blast in the picture.

I have actually been using other showers in the house recently, since I disliked the low flow on the shower head so much. Below is a shot of the shower head, sitting on its face.

If you click through the above picture, you can see the detail better. Here is a couple of close-in shots of the regulator you can see in the neck of the shower head above.

Here is the regulator disassembled:

the O-ring:

The regulator without the O-ring, back:

So if you remove the rubber O-ring from the regulator, and then put the regulator back in without the O-ring, this is what you get:

Success!!! No, it doesn’t break the other functionality of the shower head (massage, etc.) And yes, if I replace the O-ring, the shower returns to its normal (slow) self.

Lois, on BYU Weekly of course! The girls both threw up in the middle of the night Saturday night/Sunday morning (Lily 12:30 – 1:30, Adele at 3:30) and so we skipped church. Instead, we watched BYU TV so as to get some spiritual uplift. During the time we watched, BYU Weekly* came on, and we saw this picture of this person we know! I had paused the show at that point anyway, so I did a quick screen grab and saved the image to a file. You saw the rest! :-)

For more information on who Lois is, see our friend Adele Beck’s blog.

Here’s the original screen shot (click through to see bigger versions on flickr):

* BYU Weekly is a short-format program that offers updates on the events and classes occurring on BYU’s campus.  This particular short was about the theater and arts makeup classes available, and what the students are doing with their newly-found makeup skills.

She’s the real princess above.

Cynthia’s a great Mom. Ever since she was a kid what she wanted to be most is a mom, and now she is. She does a wonderful job caring for the kids (much better than me), and somehow manages to keep sane despite the pressures of life. We’re glad to have her.

I love my Mom. She’s taught me what it means to stick with what you know to be right, even when the world’s against you. She’s been a great model of support for me, and now I try to return the favor as I can. I know that much of who I am is due to her loving care, and frequently thank Heavenly Father for her care. She’s a beautiful gift in my life, and I pray that she knows that.

I love you, Mom!

Who is this, and where is the shot from? Answer to be posted tomorrow, along with wider-frame shot. :-)

I’m trying to fix the low flow problem my master shower has.  I’ve been told it might be a sediment problem in the control valve, so I’m trying to see if I can replace the valve.  These are pictures of the valve itself – it’s not what I thought it would be.  Any thoughts?
